Objectives
This course is designed to enable responsible individuals to carry out portable appliance testing procedures in a safe and effective manner and within the legal requirements.The delegate will take part in a training programme, which provides the knowledge and practical skills to carry out Portable Appliance Testing and record the result.
The training will enable the person to:
1. Observe safe working practices.
2. Recognise the construction and classification of portable electrical equipment.
3. Determine the frequency of electrical inspection testing procedures, and record the findings accurately.
4. Carry out portable appliance inspection and testing procedure using dedicated portable appliance testers.
5. State electrical units of measure.
6. Recognise and calculate cable sizes and fuses.
7. Interpret and record the results to meet the legal requirements placed on the company.
Requirements
Delegates for the Limited PAT course need not be qualified electricians but should be reliable and responsible individuals, who accept the importance of such testing in the workplace.The course is limited to the testing of portable appliances which are connected to the mains supply by a plug.
The course is not recommended for individuals under the age of 18.

ALSO NOTE THAT IN THE EVENT OF ANY DELEGATES NOT TURNING UP ON THE DAY, UNLESS WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED PRIOR TO THIS, YOU MAY BE CHARGED 30% OF THE COURSE FEES FOR COSTS INCURRED.
Notes
The course will end with a short knowledge test and a practical assessment. Successful delegates will be awarded an EKGTA Certificate of Industrial Training.Differences between the Code of Practice and the Limited course:
